ABOUT US


The Kamala Nehru College was established in 1964, the college has one of the largest libraries in terms of space and collection in South Campus Colleges of Delhi University. The college library has provided impetus to library services with the introduction of new and modern ICT infrastructure. The library is connected with Delhi University wide area campus networking system and provides access to electronic resources to its users from Delhi University Library System (DULS). The college library also subscribed NLIST (National Library and Information Services Infrastructure for Scholarly Content) which provide access to e-resources to its members. The library caters to over 300 students daily and houses over 103000 books, 77 journals and periodicals. 11 Daily Newspapers (English and Hindi) are being subscribed to for the benefit of students and staff. The library has a seating capacity of 300, with separate reading rooms for students and faculty. It also has a rich audio-visual section with over 1000 CDs and DVDs. Additionally, the library is equipped with reading material in Braille for the visually challenged student and faculty members. For its better functioning, various ICT tools are employed by the library. The college library is functioning under fully computerized environment by using Library Application Software NETTLIB since 2002. OPAC facility, INFLIBNET and DELNET are available for all the faculty and students. An Orientation is conducted at the beginning of the session in the library for the students. The library is providing various services such as reference service, circulation service, question paper, syllabus, Audio service for visually challenged persons and Open access to book shelves. The orientation programme is conducted at the commencement of new academic session every year. The library is computerized and books are bar-coded and made easily accessible through OPAC (Online Public Access Catalogue). The library has a massive collection of 105564 Books on sciences, social sciences, literature and languages (Sanskrit, Hindi, English). The college library is functioning with mantra of:- “The right book to the right user at the right time” .
